Aravilla Clearwater cookoutLabor Day Cookout!

Happy Labor Day! Labor Day is a federal holiday in the United States that honors and recognizes the American labor movement and the contributions of workers to the country’s development and achievements. This year on September 2nd we will be having a Labor Day cookout for our residents to enjoy with friends and family. Starting at 12pm and ending around 2pm, we will have a buffet style set up in the courtyard with seating in the Promenade and both downstairs dining rooms. A sign-up sheet is located at the front desk or you can call and RSVP at 727.260.2826. We hope to see you at our Labor Day cookout! Menu will include: Hotdogs, hamburgers, baked beans, coleslaw, cold drinks, desserts and more! Labor Day Performance with Ray A. to follow starting at 3pm in the Promenade.

Live Performers

If you haven’t noticed yet, we are constantly introducing new performers to our live entertainment! Every day here at Aravilla Clearwater, we host live entertainment for our residents and guests to enjoy from 3pm-4pm at the Promenade. During this hour, snacks and cold drinks are distributed. Every other Saturday we host a happy hour that we call “Sangria Saturday”. This is the time when residents and guests get to enjoy a glass of wine during our live entertainment. Don’t miss out! Keep an eye on our monthly calendar for new performers, mystery performers and our Sangria Saturdays.

Library Presentations

presentations and education for memory care residents at Aravilla Clearwater

Last month here at Aravilla Clearwater we had our very first Library Presentation. Learning about The Galapagos Island was very exciting for our residents. We
were also given books, word searches, crossword puzzles, library cards and more, thanks to the Safety Harbor Public Library!

Be sure to take a look at our monthly calendar for special guest library presentations in the Great Room, which is located at the end of the nursing hallway to the right. We are striving to team up with local libraries for our residents who love to read! We also plan on taking future Aravilla Adventures bus outings to local libraries for book rentals. We will also be heading over to the history museum this month.

Please “like” our Aravilla Clearwater Facebook page to keep up with our Aravilla Family. You may even find unique photos of your loved ones!

Resident Spotlight “Marilyn C.”

happy memory care resident Aravilla ClewarwaterWe want to take a moment to recognize Marilyn C. as a part of our Aravilla family! Marilyn was born in Albany, New York where she graduated high school, and shortly after moved to Clearwater, Florida. After getting married, Marilyn had 2 daughters, who now have children of their own, making her a very proud grandmother of 3 and a great- grandmother of 2. Marilyn was a full-time mother who eventually went back to work when her children were in high school. She worked for a telephone company where she met her husband who she has been married to for over 60 years. Marilyn officially retired in the 1980’s from a position in administration. She also enjoyed doing volunteer work at the hospice store and her church. Marilyn’s favorite hobbies include reading, going for long scenic nature walks, and playing card games. Watch out… She’s quite the player in Rummy! Marilyn also enjoyed travelling. She especially loved traveling to Alaska. Interesting fact: Marilyn was 80 years old when she first experienced zip-lining with her daughters! Together they accomplished 12 zip lines in the state of North Carolina! She even got to ride an Ostrich! Be sure to greet Marilyn when you see her. You can’t miss her happy smile wherever you cross her path!
