A Monthly Look Inside Aravilla Clearwater

memory care residents celebrating St PatricksHappy St. Patrick’s Day!

Welcome, March—the month we proudly celebrate Irish American Heritage at Aravilla Clearwater! Join us on March 17th at 2 PM in The Promenade for a festive St. Patrick’s Day Celebration, where we’ll be serving beers and snacks to delight your taste buds. St. Patrick’s Day Party! Remember to wear green, or you might just find yourself getting pinched! The color green is deeply intertwined with Ireland’s identity, symbolizing its lush landscapes, famously known as the “Emerald Isle.” In Irish folklore, green embodies luck, nature, and the mischievous spirit of leprechauns. Keep your eyes peeled for a leprechaun wandering through our community on St. Patrick’s Day! Legend has it that St. Patrick himself used the shamrock, a three-leaved plant, to convey his teachings, which has made both the shamrock and the color green central symbols of this beloved holiday. After our celebration, stick around for live music featuring Ray A. at 3 PM. We can’t wait to celebrate with you!

Resident Spotlight “Mary H.”

memory care resident at Aravilla ClearwaterWe would like to take a moment to celebrate Mary H. as a cherished member of our Aravilla family. Originally hailing from Minnesota—the Land of 10,000 Lakes—Mary was born and raised in South Minneapolis along side her parents and older sister. She attended St. Helena’s Catholic School in her early years and graduated from Roosevelt High School. Shortly after graduation, Mary began her professional journey as a secretary to the president of the Minnehaha First National Bank. Mary decorating Valentine’s Day cookies! Mary is a proud mother of four—two daughters and two sons, including one adopted child. Embracing the role of home maker, she dedicated herself to her family and Mary H. her church, where she sang in the choir (even performing for the Pope!), taught religious education, and participated in church discussion groups. As her children grew older, Mary re-entered the workforce and eventually became an executive assistant at the Minnesota Press Club. Among her remarkable experiences, Mary worked for General Mills for over 25 years. She started by managing tour guides in the iconic Betty Crocker Kitchens and later became the official respondent for the nationally syndicated “Dear Betty” column. Mary embodies the spirit of resilience and positivity—when life hands her lemons, she makes lemonade! Her favorite color is yellow, and she enjoys her coffee black. A few of her cherished sayings include: “The tendency to fume and fret never solved a problem yet” and “Worry is like a rocking chair; it never gets you anywhere!” When you have the pleasure of meeting Mary, we encourage you to take a moment to say hello. Her wisdom and radiant smile are sure to brighten your day!
