Ice Cream Socials!
I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream! This month here at Aravilla Clearwater we will be gathering for ice cream socials every Wednesday. Caramel drizzle, chocolate drizzle, whip cream, cherries… We’ve got all the toppings. Don’t get a brain freeze! Hot weather calls for cold ice cream. We will also alternate between root beer floats, novelty ice cream bars, and popsicles. Everyone loves ice cream. Did you know that eating ice cream has benefits? Enjoying ice cream can: Evoke memories and familiarity: The creamy texture and range of flavors can trigger positive memories and emotions. Provide a calming effect: The cold, creamy texture provides sensory stimulation and soothes individuals with dementia. Reduce agitation and stress: Ice cream stimulates the brain’s reward centers, bringing joy and satisfaction.
Family Game Night
We would love to invite all families and friends to our very first family game night hosted on August 29th starting at 6pm. We will be gathering our residents and their loved ones at the Promenade for a night of fun filled with smiles and laughter. If there was a game you loved to play with mom or dad growing up, this is the night to bring it back with hopes to stimulate memories and good times. Card games, dominoes, board games, bring them all in! We will also have our popcorn machine running and beverages for everyone.

Afternoon Activities
Every Thursday afternoon here at our beautiful memory care community Aravilla Clearwater, we gather together in the Great Room located at the end of the nursing hall and convert it into a movie theater. Starting at 6pm and ending at around 8pm, we choose a comedy movie for everyone to enjoy while having fresh popcorn and soda! Every Tuesday night we host a flower arrangement activity in Promenade. We also serve wine during this activity while listening to relaxing music. Flowers stimulate the senses of smell, sight and touch and in doing so can also trigger memories, encourage reminiscing and reduce feelings of stress and anxiety. We also display the arrangements on our dinning room tables and Promenade tables for the week which instills a sense of accomplishment for our ladies. Join us every Tuesday and Thursday afternoon at 6pm for fun afternoon activities!

Resident Spotlight “Frank A.”
We want to take a moment to welcome Frank A. as a part of our Aravilla family! Frank was born in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1941. He graduated from Xavier High School in Ohio in 1959 and continued his education with Xavier University. Frank earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Economics in 1963. After college, he served for the Army Reserve but then relocated to Tampa, Florida and served at the MacDill Air Force Base before he was honorably discharged. Frank sold long-term care insurance to medical professionals for many years and retired in 1990. He also did a lot of volunteer work for food pantries which included truck driving, delivering, and picking up food. Frank has 4 children: 3 girls and 2 boys, who now have kids of their own, making him a very proud grandfather of 3. Frank’s favorite hobbies include swimming, jogging, biking, golfing and going to church. He enjoyed traveling with his wife Catherine, who he’s been married to for 19 years. Together they have traveled all over the states, most countries in Europe, and really enjoyed going on many Baltic Sea cruises. Be sure to greet Frank A. when you see him. You can’t miss his great sense of humor wherever you cross his path! Welcome Frank!
